Typical applications and uses

Aluminum alloy copper in aw 2024 together with 2014, 2017 and 2030 belongs to the group of «Duralumin». These are alloys of high mechanical resistance (comparable to that of carbon steels) and are obtained by solution, tempering and maturation treatments.

Its main application is in the aeronautical and military industry, screws, bolts, rivets to be applied in a state of tempering, before maturation.

Heat treatments:

Putting into Solution: 475 ° C + - 5 ° C.
Cold water quenching: 40 ° C max.
Maturation: T3 / T4 states, 4 days min. at 20 ° C.
Annealing: 30 min. at 2 hours at 375 ° C - 410 ° C, slow cooling
Obtaining forged parts: 380 ° C to 460 ° C.
